Childcare at the Kinderhaus

The concept of the Kinderhaus is based on the orientation plan of the state of Baden-Württemberg for education and upbringing in childcare facilities. It is based on educational partnership and partially open work, which is characterized by a high regard for the child and their skills and abilities. The childcare team works in a very child-centered way on a daily basis and responds to the different needs of each child individually. Thanks to the variety of materials and methods used, all areas of the children’s development can be challenged and encouraged in a holistic and multidimensional way. In this way, the children achieve an outstanding level of competence after kindergarten, which is characterized by knowledge and motivation and is based on good ego, material and subject competence.

Registration

As a rule, the majority of places are already allocated at the beginning of each kindergarten year (September). During the year, places occasionally become vacant due to relocations or internal transfers from the crèche to the kindergarten. In this case, we consider the pre-registered children of the above-mentioned clientele (students and university employees of the cooperating universities in Mannheim) who are on the waiting list. Contact will be established by us.

Registration must be made in person at the Kinderhaus N 6,1, presenting a valid certificate of enrolment and the relevant registration documents. The child should be at least 1 year old at the time of enrolment.

Proof of student status at the universities for which the Studierendenwerk is responsible (University of Mannheim, Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University Mannheim, Popakademie Baden-Württemberg, Mannheim State University of Music and Performing Arts) must be provided at the beginning of each semester without being asked. If this is not done, the fee for non-students applies until proof of student status is provided. There will be no refund.

Childcare centre folder

Once you have been accepted for a nursery or kindergarten place, we will arrange an appointment with you to discuss the registration formalities together. You will receive these in a clearly organised folder. You can refer to it at any time if you have any questions regarding the agreements and/or other topics. You are also welcome to file all letters/information for parents here.

Childcare

The fee refers to one month; August is free of charge. Lunch is charged separately. The Studierendenwerk Mannheim is authorised to increase fees. The amount of the service fee under private law is calculated as part of the business plan to be drawn up.

*Prerequisite for the contribution for students is the enrolment of both legal guardians at one of the following universities: University of Mannheim, Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University Mannheim, Popakademie Baden-Württemberg or Mannheim State University of Music and Performing Arts.

The sibling discount for each additional child cared for by the Studierendenwerk is 20%.

Catering

The children bring their own breakfast. Lunch is freshly prepared daily in the Studierendenwerk canteen. Still and sparkling mineral water is available to the children at all times and is also served during meals.
